As part of its 100th anniversary commemoration, the Kislak Organization held a gala celebration at The Newark Museum on April 19.  Now headquartered in Miami Lakes, Florida, the business was founded in New Jersey, and its real estate brokerage, The Kislak Company, Inc., continues to be one of the dominant investment sales firms in the tri-state region.

Jonathan Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels and co-chairman of Loews Corp., was guest speaker for the event. He commended the Kislak family for its business and philanthropic leadership, and for having an “understanding of one’s responsibility to the community.”

“As they created success for themselves, they also created success for the people around them,”  Tisch told the more than 300 current and former employees, clients, friends and colleagues gathered for the event.  “I’m thrilled to be here to celebrate a unique family that has accomplished a lot.”

Jay I. Kislak, chairman of the Kislak Organization and son of founder Julius I. Kislak, spoke on behalf of the family. He attributed the organization’s success to the standards set by his father, and to the dedication and support of many loyal friends, clients, colleagues and family members.

“I learned about integrity from my father – you must never lose your integrity,”  Jay Kislak said.  "And it’s not because of what we have done for others, but what so many others have done for us to get us where we are today.”

Thomas Bartelmo, president and CEO of J. I. Kislak, Inc., said the company empowers people to make the most of their talents.

“The Kislak Organization looks for your potential and asks you to achieve more than even you think you’re capable of,”  Bartelmo said.  “Jay took me under his wing and mentored me and I was made president of J. I. Kislak, Inc., in 2000.  I tell you this because my story is not unique; there are many people who have been with the organization 20, 30, 40 years, who would tell you the same thing.  I want to say thank you to the entire Kislak family.  It’s an honor to be one of the leaders of this organization as we embark on our next century of success.”
